Suskind Blows the Lid Off Bush Regime Secrecy and Iraq War
Ron Suskind's new book, The Way of the World hit the shelves today and if early comments and reviews are any indication, this may be the too-late last nail in the coffin of those Americans who still don't believe their government would make up fake documents to deceive them into a war that has killed thousands.
Suskind documents -- via on-the-record conversations with at least two key intelligence officials -- the fact that one of Hussein's intelligence chiefs, who had been turned by the West (specifically Britain), repeatedly assured the Brits and, through them, the U.S. that Saddam had no WMDs, no bioligcal or nuclear weapons initiative, and didn't pose a threat to the U.S. When the CIA told Bush of this news, he responded by wondering why the guy couldn't "give us something we can use."
There really has been no doubt for some time that Bush, Cheney and their henchmen are guilty of war crimes. That they likely will escape justice for their horrific actions doesn't make them less guilty.
I'm going to buy and read this book over the next 2-3 days and I suspect I'll have more to say when I do.
What a travesty this administration has become!
